A short history of tractors in Ukranian (a novel by Marina Levitskaya)

It's time to tell about a really good book that I recently read. This is the book of the year for me. Funny, witty, touching, giving much thoughts for discussion with my husband. It is the kind of book which was worth being retold in details to my hubby as he could not read English. It is deeply psychological, revealing inner worlds of people beloning to different cultures, age groups and wealfare levels. A collision of ideologies. And I loved the subordinate plot about the tracors. The invention of caterpillar tractors under peace time conditions was later used for caterpillar tanks - this piece of information comes along with the scenes of fighting between two spouses who were meant to love each other till the end of time :)

I deeply regret that I hadn't taken any pictures of a cover or pages of the book or copied no paragraphs from it.
However here are some words to learn:

Babylon Beach (a book by Imogen Edwards-Jones & anonymous)

A collection of great material, a patch quilt of all sorts of problems which may occur in such place, dealing with VIP clients, dealing with staff, supply glitch, electricity break-down,bad weather conditions just anything. But where is the plot? I mean where is the intricately waven plot? Nothing ever happens in the book meanwhile shit happens all the time in the luxury resort. You can start reading this book in the middle or from back pages there will be no difference. There complaints and there is Mr.Solve-any-Problem who carries on through a week of a nightmare life in this resort.
I quit reading it at page no 157.
Here are the words to learn, as usual:

To keep abreast of -Не отставать от
Abreast information -
All the villa hosts are on standby, waiting for their guests to wake up so they can inform them immediately of the problem with electricity. All the consumer studies that we have done here on the island tell us that if we keep people abreast of problems and keep giving them up-to-date information they are much more forgiving. Give people the information and they can make an informed decision, or at least that's the theory.

2+10

Mom, take off! Take off this hand I want another one. -(?!?!) which one? What's wrong with your hand? Is it sore? - I want another one!
Yook (look), I'm big, yes? I guyow (grow) so big, like mummy, like daddy, yes? Aha? Aha?

Do you know where we are going? We are not going to дача we are going to на Кипий! -Yes, you are right, only in English we say: we are going to Cyprus, repeat it for me, please. We are going to Cuprus and на Кипий!

Sokseys - suitcase Look (at the moon) it is golden like a fish, yes? (tag questions)

The Moss-Covered Three Handled Family Gradunza

(The cat in the hat и One Fish Two Fish, Green Eggs and Ham) никаких таких новых словечек мы не нашли.
The Cat in The Hat
Напеваем, когда разыскиваем любимую игрушку Calculatus Eliminatus, когда нам скучно в дождливую погоду дома поем 'absitively posolutely nothing to be done' ну и патэтичная песня I'm a punk, A kratunkulous schnunk
I'm a gwonka in a bonkequank in Eskimo!

Fun, fun, How can you have fun?
Just sittin' doing nothin'
when there's nothin' to be done.
Nothin', nothin', nothin', nothin',
Absolutely nothin', nothin',
Positively, absolutely,
Absitivly, posolutely,
Nothin', nothin', nothin', nothin',
Nothin' to be done.

How dear to my heart was that beautiful gradunza.
That my old feline father bequeathed to me.
That old family gradunza,
The old, three-handled family gradunza,
The old, moss-covered, three-handled family gradunza.
That hung on the family tree.

The Cat in the Hat:
When you've mislaid a certain something,
keep your cool and don't get hot.
Calculatus eliminatus
is the best friend that you've got.
Calculatus eliminatus always helps
an awful lot.
The way to find a missing something
is to find out where it's not. (spoken) It isn't here. I'll mark this "X."
It isn't there. I'll mark that "Y."
It isn't underneath the apple.
Mark the apple "HKI."
Conrad: It isn't in this keyhole.
Sally: It isn't on my knee.
The Cat in the Hat: Mark the keyhole "K-300."
Mark the knee "5-7-B."
(singing) We just jot down all the places
where it isn't and gee whiz--very shortly
we will locate where the missing object is.
Conrad: (spoken) It isn't here.
The Cat in the Hat: 842-J.
Sally: It isn't there.
The Cat in the Hat: F-607--You can mark the piano "22,000-decimal point-11."
Sally: It isn't in the icebox.
Conrad: It's not on this TV.
The Cat in the Hat: Icebox: 0-2-4 1/2.
TV: 1,000,003.
(singing) When you mislaid a certain something,
keep your cool, don't go to pot.
The Cat in the Hat and Kids: Calculatus eliminatus
is the best friend that you've got.
Kids: Calculatus eliminatus always helps an awful lot.
The Cat in the Hat: The way to find a missing something
The Cat in the Hat and Kids: Is to find out where it's not.

Very well, I'm a punk,
A kratunkulous schnunk.
Nobody loves me,
Not one tiny hunk.
I agree, I'm a griffulous, groffulous groo.
I'm a schmoosler, A schminkler and a poop-poobler too.
I'm a horrendous hobject
which nobody loves.
I'm untouchable,
unless you wear antiseptical gloves.
So what, I'm a punk,
A kratunkulous schnunk.
Nobody loves me,
Not one tiny hunk.

Beautiful kitten-fish, sleep, baby, sleep.
Your eyelids are droopy, bloop, bloop, bloop, bleep, bleep.
The sandman on tiptoes comes creep, creep, creep, creep.
Hush your mouth,
Shush your mouth, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep.
Safe in your beddy-bye, sweet dreams to you.
With your teddy bear steady by, bloo, bloo, bloo, bloo.
Beautiful kitten-fish, sleep, baby, sleep.
Bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop, bloop, bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep.

The Cat in the Hat: It can be done, it can be done.
They can do anything, anything, anything under the sun.
If your nerves are getting nervous
and your house is topsy-turvus,
They are always at your service.
Thing Two and Thing One.

Thing One and Thing Two:
Fish, fish, there's always one, some long-faced, sour-belly son of a gun. There's always some fish, some sour-belly fish who's only one wish is to flatten the fun.
Doesn't like fun, doesn't like fun.
Good, clean, wholesome, innocent fun.
There's always some fish who doesn't like fun.
Good, clean, wholesome, innocent fun.
The Cat in the Hat: They can find anything, anything under the sun.
Thing One and Thing Two: This reactionary fish-faced louse.
Doesn't like flyin' kites in the house.
The Cat in the Hat: They can find anything, anything under the sun.
Thing One and Thing Two: Of all the bigoted, bigoted bores, captured fish oughta fly outdoors.
The Cat in the Hat: Thing One and Thing Two,
Thing Two and Thing One.
They can find anything, anything, anything under the sun.
Thing One and Thing Two: There's always some fish, some crotchety one.
There's always some fish, some blotchety one.
There's always some fish, some sore-bellied fish.
There's always some fish, some fish.
The Cat in the Hat: If your nerves are getting nervous and your house is topsy-turvus.
They will both be at your service on the run.
They'll find my long lost, moss-covered, three-handled family gradunza,
Thing Two and Thing One.

The foot book

30.07.14
http://english4.me/wp/games/games-based-on-books/

А по-английски - five toes and a half, a quater to heel, one thumb after midnight...
:)

The Gruffalo

21.07.14
Green Eggs and Ham
http://mockingbirdforyou.blogspot.com/2014/07/green-eggs-and-ham.html

What's your favorite food? Spaghetti! How about something weird, like green eggs and ham? Or purple peas? Or pizza ice-cream?
The Gruffalo likes really strange food, such as owl ice-cream or scrambled snake. Where are you going to, little brown mouse? Come and have lunch in my underground house!
His favourite food is a roasted fox!
On went the mouse through the deep dark wood.
Owl saw the mouse and the mouse looked good.
Where are you going to, little brown mouse?
Come and have tea in my tree-top house.
- it's awfully kind of you, owl, but no, I'm having a tea with the Gruffalo!
(Stuffed snake).
You taste good on a sliced bread!
Good, - said the mouse. Don't call me good.
I am the scariest creature in this wood!
Just follow me kindly and you will see:
Everyone is afraid of me!
All right, -said the Gruffallo, bursting with laughter,
You go ahead and I follow after.
A snake took a look at Gruffalo
God claws, -he said, Good bye little mouse!
And off he slipped to his logpile house.
You see, -said the mouse, I told you so!
Astounding! -said the Gruffalo
And now my tummy is beginning to rumble
and my favorite food is a Gruffalo crumble!
All was quiet in the deep dark wood
The mouse found a nut and the nut tasted good.
