Blocks

В первую очередь хочется сразу дать правильные названия вещам. Что мы для простоты называем ”игрой в кубики” в английском имеет название ”block play”. Сразу прошу обратить внимание не ”cubes”, а именно ”blocks”, и правильнее будет их называть блоками, дальше вы увидете почему. Я и сама себя поймала на этой речевой ошибке играя с дочерью, сказав: "дай мне треугольный кубик, пожалуйста”. Кубик - это кубик, он не может быть треугольным, круглым, прямоугольным и даже квадратным - это уже лишнее называть кубик квадратным.
В детских садах Америки всё начинается с базового комплекта блоков - school unit blocks (как на фото), они не окрашены разными цветами, но имеют разные размеры.
Исходя из их размеров им дали названия по возрастанию.
Здесь мне с переводом становится сложнее.
Можно оставить английское название ”юнит”, хотя я большой противник того чтобы лишний раз вводить заимствования. Ведь мы общаемся с детьми и наша речь должна быть простой и понятной.
И так:
One unit - маленький кирпичек, блок или юнит, а еще их можно называть половинками кубика
Two units (double block, quad) - кубик или двойной блок
Four units - четверной звучит коряво, детям это не нужно, назовём его средним блоком
Eight units - большой блок, длинный блок

Можно и не переводить их вовсе, тем более, что у нас в домах вряд ли будут такие же наборы. Но я призываю всех прочесть и разобраться, ведь английских детей учат отличать ”оne unit” от ”double unit” тем самым преподают основы математики.
Я не являюсь педагогом начальных учебных заведений и могу ошибаться, быть может, в наших детсадах есть точно такие же наборы и всё имеет свои названия и все навыки сложения-вычетания отрабатываются не хуже чем в Америке, поэтому зарание прошу прощения за некомпетентность в вопросе. Oh, your tower is a little bit wobbly, oops! It fell down - Ой, твоя башня шаткая (неустойчивая), ооой, упала!
It happens, things fall down. - Такое бывает, всё рушится.
Never mind, we can build it up again. The more you try, the better tower you get.- Ничего, мы построим занова. Чем больше пытаться тем лучше башня получится.

Are you sure you can place one more cube on top of your construction? Be careful, because it looks unsteady. - Ты уверен, что можешь положить еще один кубик наверх твоей конструкции? Она выглядит неустойчивой.
If you add another block, I'm afraid it may topple over. - Если ты добавишь еще один кубик, боюсь, твоя конструкция покачнется и упадет.
There you go, it crashed! -Ну вот, она рухнула.
Do not get upset, it is lots of fun! - только не огорчайся, это же весело!
Everyone learns through the feel of the bump and the sound of block falling. - Все учатся путем ошибок (под звуки падающих кубиков)
Do not place the bigger block on top of the smaller one, it is likely to fall down.- Не ставь больший блок на меньший, он скорее всего упадет.
Place the longer block on a quad and you will learn how to balance weight equally. -положи длинный брусок на кубик и ты научишься использовать равновесие.
They mismatch each other - они не подходят друг к другу, не сочетаются (особенно о кусочках пазла)
I can see that you have mastered stacking the blocks. I am so proud of you!- Вижу, ты уже научился выстраивать кубики в столбик. Я тобой горжусь!
Your construction is so tall! Breathtaking! -Твоя конструкция такая высокая, дух захватывает! (обалдеть!)

We begin by placing two double units on the floor and then two more across them. In a criss-cross pattern of double units, our structure grows quickly. Начнем с двух длинных брусков, а сверху положем еще два длинных бруска поперек. Таким поперечным узором (колодцем) наш дом быстро растёт.

Для тех, кто любит теорию, приведу стадии освоения навыков игры в кубики. Чем старше ребенок, тем большими навыками он овладевает.

Не ностальгия

Лежу на диване на Фуэртэвентура. Нет, я не хочу сказать, что, мол, на Канарах, на курорте, солце, пальмы, освежающий коктейль... Вовсе нет. Декабрь, дует ветер, я прячусь под пледом в холодной комнате. Здесь не сказка, тем более в это время года. Скучный городишко с убогой детской площадкой, куда я вынуждена водить ребенка. Город Эль Котийо (Еl Cotillo) никакого интересе не представляет. Океан - да, это всё! но купаться уже не сезон и, может тут не в сезоне дело, здесь просто огромные волны! Мы не серферы и никогда, наверное, не будем пробовать этот вид спорта, поэтому этот остров точно не для нас. Для нас велосипеды, сегодня прокатились до маяка, очень ветрено всю дорогу, а на маяке и слов нет какой ветер! Вернулись в номер.
Так вот, лежу на диване, смотрю goоgle карту. Иркутск. Ямская. Дом, магазин, школа, церковь, университет. И катятся слёзы. Я вижу лишь сверху эти крыши и уже отправляюсь в прошлое. Не хочу туда, не хочу. Стыдно ли, страшно ли? Не пойму почему так тяжело. Я хочу в Иркутск сегодняшний, он изменился, я хочу увидеть насколько. Я хочу принести свою радость тем кто меня помнит. У меня замечательная дочка, любящий муж, все хорошо. Только не хочу отправляться в прошлое. Закрываю эту карту.

A short history of tractors in Ukranian (a novel by Marina Levitskaya)

It's time to tell about a really good book that I recently read. This is the book of the year for me. Funny, witty, touching, giving much thoughts for discussion with my husband. It is the kind of book which was worth being retold in details to my hubby as he could not read English. It is deeply psychological, revealing inner worlds of people beloning to different cultures, age groups and wealfare levels. A collision of ideologies. And I loved the subordinate plot about the tracors. The invention of caterpillar tractors under peace time conditions was later used for caterpillar tanks - this piece of information comes along with the scenes of fighting between two spouses who were meant to love each other till the end of time :)

I deeply regret that I hadn't taken any pictures of a cover or pages of the book or copied no paragraphs from it.

Babylon Beach (a book by Imogen Edwards-Jones & anonymous)

A collection of great material, a patch quilt of all sorts of problems which may occur in such place, dealing with VIP clients, dealing with staff, supply glitch, electricity break-down,bad weather conditions just anything. But where is the plot? I mean where is the intricately waven plot? Nothing ever happens in the book meanwhile shit happens all the time in the luxury resort. You can start reading this book in the middle or from back pages there will be no difference. There complaints and there is Mr.Solve-any-Problem who carries on through a week of a nightmare life in this resort.
I quit reading it at page no 157.
